Feed My Starving Children has warehouses in Minnesota, Illinois and Arizona where meals are packed on a daily basis. However, the organization also hosts MobilePack events in other cities, which allow people across the United States an opportunity to pack life-giving meals. Before the pandemic, hundreds of millions of meals would be packed by volunteers during in New York, Arizona, Indiana, Minnesota, Washington, Illinois, and dozens of other states. In 2016, a single FMSC MobilePack event produced over 5.4 million meals in Florida!
The Placer/Sacramento region has hosted a MobilePack Event every year since 2010 (except for the pandemic year 2020), packing nearly 5.7 MILLION meals for malnourished children. The community has been so impacted by these MobilePack events that we are bringing an 11h MobilePack back to the region from October 20-22, 2022.
It’s a great opportunity to bring the community together for a worthwhile cause to feed hungry kids around the world. We invite your group – whether a team, organization, church, business, or youth gathering – to come join them in the effort.
All Groups Can Help Pay for Meals and Volunteer
Feed My Starving Children’s volunteer program offers groups of all kinds the opportunity to work together in a positive, team-focused environment. Some of the groups who make FMSC an integral part of their service programs include:
Organizations
Whether you’re part of a Boy or Girl Scout Troop, a soccer or volleyball, baseball or football team, this is a community-wide event and we welcome all to come take part despite race or religion. It’s a great team-building experience for kids, teens or adults. Businesses often bring their management or employee teams to come pack food, and walk away wanting to come back each year. Fund-raise as a group to help pay for the ingredients used in the meals your organization will pack, it can be a great experience to give back.
Schools
Elementary (grade 3 and up), middle and high schools use FMSC to strengthen curriculum efforts focusing on citizenship, social service, asset building and other positive aspects of character development. The FMSC volunteer experience can provide a real-world application of classroom learning. Students are able to work together for a finite period of time and with a specific, high-value outcome. At the end of every volunteer session, the group knows exactly how many meals were produced to eliminate hunger in the world. Help teach students social responsibility; fundraisers by classroom and grade can serve to pay for each of the many meals packed.
Churches
FMSC provides a deeply meaningful service opportunity for Sunday School classes, confirmation classes, mission programs, and inter-generational fellowship groups. In a uniquely experiential and fun way, the FMSC volunteer experience engages hearts, hands, and minds for Christ, and fulfills the need of the giver to give. Recognizing the community-building impact of partnership with FMSC, many churches identify FMSC as a staple ministry, incorporating volunteering and fundraising into the life of the church on a regular basis.
Some churches link FMSC with their other mission activities by designating meals they pack for a specific country or mission program, or by delivering FMSC meals during mission trips to places their church supports. The FMSC approach offers a powerful opportunity for disciples of Christ to share the love of Christ and to see first hand the difference FMSC volunteers make in response to Christ’s call to feed His starving children. Even those who cannot make it to the MobilePack can still support the cause through charitable giving; every 22 cents sponsors a meal packed by your church.
Corporations
Corporations of every kind use FMSC as a site for team building programs. Because of FMSC’s emphasis on small group involvement and outcome-focused participation, the volunteer experience offers a wonderful way for a company to engage and motivate with the selfless benefit of feeding the world’s starving children. Businesses are also given an opportunity to cooperate and build stronger relationships with members of the community through a display of their service orientation. Demonstrate a commitment to the cause by sponsoring each of the meals packed by employees through a charitable donation.
